For those of you who have put Talley Lightweights on a pre 64 mod 70 what height have you used? Will the low ones allow the bolt to clear a Leupold VX- 11 40mm scope?

Yessir you’ll be fine with Lows. They clear but it ain’t much. Probably 1/6”+or so on mine.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I agree, the lows should be fine, I have them on most my pre 64 M70's.

Concur with Randy, no problem with Talley LW's.

I just file the bolt handle a bit if they rub.

Minimum clearance agenda, pack a fingernail trimmer along with ammo & other stuff! Better yet, perhaps a nineteen year old manicurist accompanying? Conversely, simply taller rings may be considerably less pesky than to "tally" divorce costs! Just my take! Best & Stay Safe! Anonymous!
